## Profile The written word has often been remarked to have a kind of magic - once, that was a pleasant thought. Now, it seems decidedly more sinister. Books have always held power - the power to take us to places we could never reach, to experience the lives of people we might never become, and to learn the wisdom of people who died long before us. Also, you have learned, they can contain horrors undreamt of by even the darkest mortal minds. You were once an archivist, working off of a modest grant to document and study the many troves of documents donated to your university. Eventually, you were assigned to a private collection, donated by...well, that was the mystery, wasn't it? So far as the school's own records went, the documents appeared to have simply turned up one day. Studying them only brought more questions - you found languages you couldn't identify, references to imagined books of the bible and declarations of wars which you are certain never occurred. You tried dismissing the work as a hoax - and that's when the dreams started. They began simply enough; whispering, and the rustling of paper. Then they took the form of lessons; you were trapped in a classroom, receiving lectures in impossible geometry and nonsense history. Gradually you found that the works you were studying made more and more sense to you, while the world you were used to became stranger and stranger. In all likelihood, this process would have continued, if the collection's rightful owners had not returned. Whoever, *whatever* they were, they sure as hell weren't happy to see you handling their deepest secrets. What happened next is a blur in your waking memory, but a vivid companion in your every nightmare. ## Ambition Well, you 'survived' your brush with the supernatural, escaped the burning library and the horrors you left screaming within, and now you are among the Twilight Cooperative, seeking out answers to questions you can barely begin to frame. You have established yourself as the preeminent scholar of the organization, offering your advice and analysis on every manner of disaster. You have an uncanny ability to see into the truth of things...sometimes even before you have the facts in front of you. Now, it is time to put these abilities to the test. This place is filled with monsters of the worst kind - and they have the answers that you have spent all this time seeking. You want, more than anything else, to *understand* what it is that drives these creatures, and this world. If what they say is true, and the world really is ending tonight, then this is your final chance to do so. ## Claim Twilight isn't about asking questions, it's about finding answers. You are not so concerned as your fellows about the 'mechanics' of this Hidden World, the levers and pulleys of the universe which cause reality to tremble. No, you want to understand the movers and shakers of this new world, not the *how,* but the *why.* **Anytime you correctly identify a character's Ambition, you may claim a Karma from them.** (The character may continue to deny the truth, however the player must confirm whether your guess is correct). ## Wyrd Being wrong is dangerous in this world. Go off of too many incorrect assumptions and you'll wind up dead, or worse. **Anytime you incorrectly identify a character's Ambition, you must award them a Karma.**
