## Metadata Name: N Holding: [[Sekpoli]] Office: [[Admiral]] ## Background You were born on Sekpoli. Your world is a lush, beautiful place, flanked by two of the galaxy's most savage and destructive war engines. Those war engines, [[Red Station]] and [[Blue Station]], aren't from your world. Given the size of them, no single world could have provided the resources. No, the two stations were brought into your solar system intentionally, by your thousand-year Governor, [[L, Governor of Sekpoli]]. They did this because [[Great Houses PAX 2023#House Amazigh|House Amazigh]] was sending representatives, making threats, and generally displaying clear signs of an impending annexation. Bringing two of the galaxy's great dangers into the mix may not have been the safest of choices, but it certainly made the Great House back off. Unfortunately, the task of keeping these two powerhouses pointed at one another has largely fallen on you since your ascension to the post of Admiral. You don't much care for it, but you've learned the hard way how essential your work is. These two stations know that they're strong enough to wipe out most of the galaxy, but what they don't know is that millennia of poor maintenance and total war footing have left both in a shambles. If either were to try and fire its full weapons array, it would likely cause a chain reaction destroying the entire vessel. Given the fact that there are a dozen or more ancient superweapons on each, that sort of thing is likely to wipe out this entire chunk of the galaxy. So, your job isn't great, but it's essential. You keep the stations at war, without letting that war get too big. The death of the Plaguesmith is a new and terrifying wrinkle. Your job for a long time has been maintaining a precarious and dangerous balance, and the Empress' favorite immortal dying is not the sort of thing which is good for balance. You're certain that you're about to see on a grand scale the thing you've always feared on a small scale. What's worse, you're sure it's on purpose. Everyone here is struggling to figure out who could possibly kill the Empress' pet, and they're missing the obvious answer. There's only one person with the power to do such a thing; the Empress Herself. She killed the Plaguesmith, though you're not sure why. Oh sure, She didn't do it Herself. Her movements are well-tracked and She was too far away to interfere directly, but you're certain that She gave the means to one of Her servants and entrusted them to do it. Why? Who knows why that ancient monster does anything? Maybe She wants to set the Wend at war with the rest of the galaxy, to see if they can be replaced by new and shinier toys. Maybe She's just bored. The one thing you know for sure is you're not ok with this. You're going to find out who She gave the means to kill a Wend, and you're going to destroy that weapon forever. If She wants to watch you all gouge each others' eyes out, She'll have to do better than this. The way you figure, it was probably one of the Voidstalkers or Bureaucrats who did the job - besides the Wend, they're the most likely to act as Her tools. If you can find out who, maybe you'll be able to find out how. ## Mechanics ### **Asset: [[Total Encirclement]]** You are an Admiral, commander of drone, soldier, and fleet alike. You are able to participate in any [[Combat|Combat]] and may allow any number of other characters to participate in that conflict on your side. If your opponent is not able to engage you in the declared combat scenario, you get to dictate the outcome subject to your advantage total and any adjudication by the Facilitator(s). (e.g., if an enemy is unable to engage in Fleet Combat, you may automatically inflict the [[Blockade]] Lien, assuming you have at least 3 advantages). ### **Lien: [[Academy Pals|Academy Pals]]** You don't become an Admiral without taking at least a temporary detour through politics. Luckily, like most officers who make it to such heights, you graduated from a Fleet Academy with a ready-made network of friends and favors. Unluckily, being a member of that network obliges you in turn. Any time a character with a military title ([[Auxiliary]], [[Harbinger]], [[Operator]], [[Knight]], or [[Admiral]]) asks you for help, whether it's information or actual assistance, you must provide that help unless that character reports to you or you are actively at war with them. If you fail to provide this assistance, you are unable to contribute advantages to the next [[Combat|Combat]] in which you are a participant (You may still use your [[Total Encirclement]] Asset to allow characters to participate). ## Themes These themes are offered to help inform roleplay, but do not carry a mechanical effect. - Balance and Conflict - Stillness and Motion - War as Political Convenience
