## Profile Since the moment of your Awakening, you've bathed in ash, blood, and fire, emerging from the precipice each time more cunning, more shrewd, more powerful. The edge of oblivion is your intimate companion, and you stand ever ready, one foot poised to plunge you into its churning, smoldering depths. Miraculously, you've survived millennia. Extensive genetic modification and ritualized immortality techniques promise eternal lifespan, yet you should have succumbed to some other fate long before Eternity knocked. No ritual, after all, can prevent the more banal endings - sliced, shredded, stabbed, shot, encased in stone, and cooked to death….You’ve avoided it all, if barely. Now, you find yourself in yet another precarious position, perhaps more precarious than any before. As the most senior member of Unit 50783, you are tasked with managing your team's machinations, ensuring the apocalypse unfolds precisely as planned. You’re meticulous planners, all of you. Yet... you didn't plan for this. The Casino, that is. And that’s a problem you need to solve, fast. ## Ambition Failure is an enemy you can accept. You have lost the World before, each time finding a way to twist and pull and prod opposition to fit in your grand schemes. This is different; this time you’ve been blindsided. It’s as though this Casino acts as a fixed position in space and time, repelling your warping and workings and visions. According to your preliminary testing, it seems to be some sort of metaphysical superstructure…..and it’s bloody maddening. How are you supposed to manipulate a metaphysical superstructure?? It makes you want to scream and sneer and tear the bloody place apart brick by brick. You wonder if the other factions are having such troubles. You have occasionally worked with a Vespera seer - [[Conventions/PAX Unplugged/PAX 2024/Danced With the Devil/The Vespera Family/D Sebastiani|D Sebastiani]]. Perhaps they have the insight you lack. Still, it is your responsibility to maintain the face of your organization. If you cannot win, you will at least make sure that the Casino doesn't win either. Either act to ensure the Unit's victory, or pick a winner you can stomach backing. ## Claim The Unit isn't a hub of conspiracies or an all powerful monolith, though you've worked very hard to make them seem like it. The unit is a thousand spinning plates, all falling towards the ground, and an endless dance to keep them in the air until you are ready for them to fall. The game is not tricking or subverting people - just occupying them, keeping them busy until you are ready for the disaster to strike. **Anytime you convince a player to delay taking action, you may claim a Karma from that player.** ## Wyrd You survive by remaining untouchable - whether by physical attack or political maneuver. Unfortunately, while being known as the world masterminds is an incredibly potent reputation, it is also a target. **Anytime you are directly accused of something (or blamed for the action of one of your agents), you must award the accuser a Karma**.
