Goals: 1. Learn and spread as much information as you can about the powerful figures in attendance. 2. Find a reason to hope for the future of [[Ebonwatch]] and do whatever you can to preserve it. 3. Make sure that the secrets of the temple are not hidden away from history. You are Historian Chappa, the "Keeper of Deeds." For generations, your family has tended to the Silent Stacks, [[Ebonwatch|Ebonwatch's]] famous libraries. Your many greats-grandmother was the Holding's official Historian when [[Catka, Who Sees in Darkness]] first saved your world from destruction, nearly a million years ago. Though that is an almost inconceivable span of time, your family (like many families with hereditary offices) tends to have extremely long lives. You yourself are over twenty thousand years old, though you've spent long stretches of that in cryogenic stasis, waiting out the more boring centuries. Given your longevity and publication rate, and the significant place the Chappa family occupies in Ebonite culture, you are without question the most well-regarded scholar in your entire society. There is more to you, though, than a stodgy historian dutifully recording facts and figures. You, like so very many of your forebears, are a gossip at heart. You don't collect information and record it out of any documentarian's responsibility, or any love for truth. No, you do it because you love secrets and you love bringing them to light. You also, if you're really honest with yourself, love Ebonwatch. Yes, your holding is 90% soldier by volume, and yes, it's hopelessly backward in many ways, but it's yours nonetheless, if you could only find a way to save it from ignominy and constant war. You've come to the [[Council of Chains]] because it's full of important and powerful people for you to investigate and gossip about, and because Catka told your Governor that there was some kind of temple with an ancient weapon inside. You don't much care for the details yourself, but you know someone will try to keep those details secret, and *that*, you will not abide. Information wants to be free, you're just here to help. ## Asset: [[Mythmaking]] You are an expert on not only the facts of history but also its contexts. You know how to relate what's happening now to what happened millennia ago, how to weave the past and present together into a coherent narrative. Whenever you tell a story about history, your audience each gain one advantage in their next [[Combat]], [[Negotiation]], or [[Endeavor]]. ## Lien: [[Sank a Thousand Ships]] You simply cannot stop yourself. You go out of your way to discover information and, almost immediately, spread it far and wide. Any time you know a secret, you want to share. After roughly five minutes of talking with the same person or group, you feel compelled to share the most interesting thing you know, or to learn something new and valuable. If ten minutes pass without sharing or learning a secret, you go searching for another, more interesting conversation.
