Goals: 1. Get paid (whether in resources or favors) to participate in a fight. 2. Find anyone who intends harm to [[Ebonwatch]] and find a way to arrange their death or disgrace. 3. Keep the temple closed, or kill whatever comes out. You are Knight Paha, the "Knife in the Dark." For the several thousand years of your life, you've been [[Ebonwatch|Ebonwatch's]] finest weapon, the blade the enemy never sees coming. Each time a [[Light Vaults|Light Vault]] opens, you're on the very front of the front lines, walking the void seemingly unaided, blade in hand. The truth, of course, is a bit more complicated than that. Your weapon is not the simple sword it appears, but a piece of highly advanced technology which provides life support, protection, and the ability to move at a significant fraction of the speed of light. With this miraculous weapon, you've taught more than one ancient monster to feel fear. There is more to you, though, than the bearer of a magic blade. You have the stink of destiny about you, despite several attempts to wash it off. Shortly before you were born, your mother (a famed and feared occultist) supposedly made a pilgrimage to beg a blessing from [[Catka, Who Sees in Darkness]]. Catka prophesied that you would grow strong and courageous, and that you would one day save Ebonwatch from utter destruction. While you've fought plenty of battles on your Holding's behalf, you suspect that prophecy has yet to be fulfilled. Though as time goes on, you're wondering more and more whether you'll be able to tell when it finally is. You've come to the [[Council of Chains]] because you know how dangerous it is to unleash ancient mysteries, and because you never miss a chance to identify and neutralize threats. You're using this Myriadic Council to find out who might have an interest in hurting your people, and to figure out how to hurt them first. At the same time, you're hoping to either keep the temple from being opened, or to put together a big enough crew to kill whatever monstrosity comes crawling out. ## Asset: [[Cohen's Legacy]] Those who stand against you do not stand for long, or ever again. You can participate in Local [[Combat]] Scenarios without aid. In any Combat scenario where you participate (even with aid), your side adds two to its advantage total for each enemy without either the [[Cohen's Legacy]] or [[Close Quarters Chaos]] Assets. If no enemy has either Asset, your side automatically wins. ## Lien: [[Raze the Sun]] What's the point of fighting when you never lose? There are many powers in the galaxy which are beneath you, and many which are beyond you, but surprisingly few which are a decent fight with a chance for learning and growth. Whether it's alone or as part of a group, you are obsessed with finding and challenging someone (or something) to a worthwhile fight. If you ever have to refuse a challenge, you become despondent and irritable.
