Goals: 1. Secure a long-term deal with a Governor other than your own. 2. Find a way to support a rebellion. Any rebellion. 3. Prevent the contents of the temple, whatever they may be, from being used to give more power to the powerful. You are Merchant Kingsley, the "Galaxy's Best Drug Dealer." If you're honest, you slightly resent that classification. You don't *deal* drugs, you *wholesale* them. You're not out peddling synthetic adrenaline, you're shaking hands with the Governor and establishing a five-year delivery agreement for shipping containers **full** of synthetic adrenaline. You're not just a legitimate businessperson, you're often the most legitimate businessperson a given Holding has ever met. It's hardly your fault that you come from a planet which exclusively exports drugs and rebels, and rebellion only rarely leads to financial profit. Not never, but not often. There is more to you, though, than a purveyor of enterprise-grade good times. It turns out that a caravan full of illicit substances is a surprisingly effective cover story. When they find that many drugs, they generally stop digging for a deeper motive. As a result, you've been able to organize and support revolutions across the galaxy without anyone being the wiser. Whenever you arrive on a new world, you learn about its people, its culture, its balances of power. If, as is so often the case, those balances are based on oppression and cruelty, you funnel resources to local resistance movements, run interference with their government, and generally give whatever support you can. You've come to the [[Council of Chains]] because the mysterious Wend known as [[The Unsung Song]] passed intel to your Governor that this temple contains something of great power. You aren't interested in the object itself, whatever it is, but you're tremendously interested in the opportunities it provides for networking and relationship building. As well, you figure there are plenty of people who will be seeking the object for their own purposes, and being present might give you the opportunity to make sure whoever wins is at least a little bit less evil than the alternatives. ## Asset: [[Went to Market]] You begin play with a number of resources. These resources are represented by cards marked "Raw Resource", "Refined Resource", or "Fuel". These resources may be expended to fulfill other characters' Liens, spent in service of [[Endeavor|Endeavors]], or traded in [[Negotiation|Negotiations]]. You can't lead Endeavors or Negotiations without a Governor's express, case-by-case permission, but you can participate in them and lend your resources as you see fit. ## Lien: [[Blood Money]] The galaxy is not an innocent place, and commerce cannot be innocently conducted within it. The kind of resources necessary to be a player on the galactic stage simply cannot be sourced from a single planet, or even a few hundred planets, without brutality and oppression baked in somewhere. In order for you to lead a [[Negotiation]], in addition to permission from your Governor, you must be accompanied by at least one Martial officer (from any Holding).
