Goals: 1. Bail citizens of [[Guthrie Hall]] out of trouble while staying grumpy. 2. Make sure that your Governor has the backing they need for any important votes during the Myriadic Council. 3. Ensure that your Holding is involved in handling the temple opening. You are Minister Jane, the "Party Whip." On a planet full of people who've spent their very long lives disagreeing with everyone about everything, you're the person in charge of making everyone get along. This is not a fun job. This is not a rewarding job. It is, however, a job that you do shockingly well. Some of your success likely comes from your habit of arranging for the deaths of those who endanger the Holding one too many times. You've never been convicted of anything, but everyone knows that there are lines best left uncrossed if they don't want to see a (potentially literal) nuclear response from you. There is more to you, though, than a stern countenance demanding loyalty. The main reason you're so good at compelling service is because you yourself are famously, almost absurdly, loyal. You've spent your entire life in service to your Holding, going wherever your Governor needed you, arguing with whomever you needed to convince, often with nothing to your advantage but fast talk and a general lack of regard for consequences. That loyalty is also extended to any citizen of the Hall who isn't currently on the Governor's shit list. If they're doing their best to help your people, there's very little you wouldn't do to help them in turn. In the face of such unwavering faith, most people fall in line. You've come to the [[Council of Chains]] because you want to make sure your Holding, or at least one of its officers, is involved in opening the temple. Whatever's inside, [[The Unsung Song]], the mysterious Wend who patronizes your Holding, claims it's a powerful asset. You're not really an ideas person, so you don't know how it might be used, but so long as your Holding has the chance to seize that power for itself, you're happy. ## Asset: [[Morale Support]] A Minister is responsible for ensuring that Holding's citizens are proud and eager to be members of that Holding. This is done by creating and supporting arts, swaying public opinion, and occasionally fanning suspicion and violence against outsiders to a fever pitch. It's not the cleanest work, but it pays well. Whenever you spend time speaking privately about the merits and virtues of your Holding with a citizen of that Holding, that citizen gains two advantages on their next [[Combat|Combat]], [[Negotiation]], or [[Endeavor]]. ## Lien: [[My Holding, Right or Wrong]] You don't get to be the a Holding's official hype-person without complicity. Whatever action your Holding takes, you're expected to be the respectable face. Any time a character says something negative about your Holding, you feel the need to argue publicly. If you can't, or if you feel you lost the argument, you become despondent and irritable.
