Goals: 1. Gather information about the other Holdings' plans and spread it among your people. 2. Engage in low-stakes gossip during high-stakes situations. 3. Spread competing rumors about the temple to keep the other Holdings guessing. You are Spy Ulaid, the "One Who Knows Everything." You're extremely old by the standards of your people, with nearly half a million years under your belt. During that time, you've split your time fairly evenly between your home Holding and your fieldwork. You travel from place to place, gathering intelligence and arranging for dramatic, sudden, painful ends to those who have crossed your people. You rarely take lives yourself, but you have a real knack for turning organizations against themselves. Find the thing they don't like about each other, and apply pressure to that point. The rest usually takes care of itself and before long, the unfortunate necessities are handled. There is more to you, though, than a shadowy figure arranging ice-cold vengeance. Your knack for spycraft comes from two sources. First, you have a genuine interest in people and what makes them tick. Second, you love gossip like a firefly loves lighting up the night; it's just your nature. These two things together mean that you rarely take long to learn everything there is to know about a given person. From there, it was only natural you'd eventually become one of the galaxy's most accomplished intelligence operatives. You've come to the [[Council of Chains]] because you follow the action. There are nine other Holdings sending representatives, and each of those Holdings is famous for something. More than that, you suspect each of them has something in common. You've heard that the temple has some kind of power or artifact or something inside. You're not especially interested, except as a source of fun gossip, but you know that the rumor got to *you* from a Wend. What if that's true for everyone else as well? It's speculation, but if you're right, this is an opportunity to collect information not just on nine Holdings, but also the nine Wend who are supporting them. ## Asset: [[Observe and Report]] You've spent long hours learning to home in on key points while ignoring extraneous data, then distilling your findings in a few terse, encrypted sentences. Any time you talk to a character for longer than a few minutes, you can ask them one of: their Asset, their Lien, or the number and types of Resources they possess and they must tell the truth. You may use this once per hour per character. ## Lien: [[Lying for a Living]] The problem with being a professional fabulist is you can't unsee how gullible your loved ones are. You're constantly teaching people that discernment is a core competency. Whenever you make an assertion, you must point out you shouldn't be trusted, or attempt to seem as suspicious as possible. If someone believes you without proof, you regard this as a terrible failure on their part and try to teach them better.
