Goals: 1. Lighten up a tense, high-stakes situation with humor. 2. Figure out what it would take to be made a [[Wend]] and try to do it. 3. Convince the Myriadic Council to give you the temple in exchange for a split of any profits. You are Profiteer Chester, the "Cheerful Trillionaire." Privately, you're fairly sure that your net worth is actually impossible to estimate using any one system of currency, but you like the nickname so it all works out ok. You've been alive for longer than even most Karizmians, almost four million years. Even to you that number is ridiculous, and you do your best not to think about it. You've been kicking around so long that nothing really phases you anymore, and you've whiled away the last several hundred thousand years as a sort of eternally-pleasant grandparent figure, occasionally swooping in to collect particularly remarkable profit opportunities. There is more to you, though, than the kindly stranger. Even for an immortal, longevity is not truly guaranteed. Besides the violence and terror which haunt the galaxy, there are experimental failures, esoteric diseases, and the weight of ennui itself, all of which reap the lives of immortals like wheat. You've not only survived this long, you've done so without a "Karizmian Burial," the colloquial term for someone who retreats permanently to the Dream. Indeed, you only rarely visit the Dream at all. Your desire can only be accomplished in reality. You want to see the end of time. And you have a plan. There is one group of people who nothing, not the greatest weapons or most insidious torments, can destroy. The [[Wend]], cursed by [[Celestial Empress|Her Majesty]] with immortality inviolable, will live until the death of the universe itself. Some say they'll outlive even that, to serve Her in all the endless realities to come. Somehow, incredibly, they say that like it's a bad thing and not a blessing beyond all others. Sure, becoming a Wend seems to involve millennia of torture by the Empress, which doesn't sound great, but that's no price at all in the face of eternity. ## Asset: [[Astral Arbitrage]] You are an expert in finding and exploiting inefficiencies in markets and those who control them. If a gas mining operation is doing business exclusively in a local currency, you're there to crash that currency's value and scoop up every gram of valuable resources you can get. Whenever you participate in a [[Negotiation]], the other side loses one advantage for every participant who does not posses [[Astral Arbitrage]] or [[Went to Market]]. ## Lien: [[Moving Markets Move Market Movers]] Despite many _many_ attempts to the contrary, Profiteers are no more able to dictate the flow of markets than anyone else. They must tirelessly cultivate sources of information. Whenever you hear an important fact for the first time, you must appropriately compensate the source, though the nature of that compensation may vary. You cannot bear to be in debt, and the only thing you value is information.
