Goals: 1. Involve yourself in any shady deals or treasonous activity you can find. 2. Get paid to do something you wanted to do anyway. 3. Attempt to gather enough support to storm the temple. You are Profiteer Abisare, "Lakh's Launderer." Though few people use the proper name for the galaxy, preferring to refer to it as the [[Celestial Empire]], you know better than most that the Empire only really covers a tiny fraction of all stars in the galaxy. Sure, it's spread from edge to edge, but the density of populated planets is far higher than the density of Empire-recognized Holdings. That's where you made your fortune, and where you've kept making it for more than a hundred thousand years. When planet-scale wealth needs to move in and out of the Empire without anyone important noticing, you make some calls. There's more to you, though, than an exchange desk between the Empire and its shadows. Though the worlds you trade with claim not to be part of the Celestial Empire, you're aware that [[Celestial Empress|Her Majesty]] takes a dim, some might say omnicidal, view of such claims. That's why you do it, in fact. Because fuck the Empire, and fuck its Deathless Queen, too. Sure, most of the worlds you work with get destroyed eventually, but some don't, and the longer you work and more money you spread around, the more chances they get to survive. Maybe, one day, you'll be the center of a web large enough to end the galaxy's longest nightmare. Then again, maybe that's what all the [[Wend]] thought before She cursed them. You've come to the [[Council of Chains]] because any time nine Holdings gather in one place, some shady deals are going down. Even better, you think it's very likely at least some of those present are planning rebellion against the Celestial Empire. You've also heard a rumor the temple contains some kind of lost superweapon capable of fighting the Empress Herself. If so, maybe you can gather a crew and keep the weapon from disappearing into some [[Imperial Bureaucracy]] or [[Voidstalker Corps]] safe house. ## Asset: [[Astral Arbitrage]] You are an expert in finding and exploiting inefficiencies in markets and those who control them. If a gas mining operation is doing business exclusively in a local currency, you're there to crash that currency's value and scoop up every gram of valuable resources you can get. Whenever you participate in a [[Negotiation]], the other side loses one advantage for every participant who does not posses [[Astral Arbitrage]] or [[Went to Market]]. ## Lien: [[Moving Markets Move Market Movers]] Despite many _many_ attempts to the contrary, Profiteers are no more able to dictate the flow of markets than anyone else. They must tirelessly cultivate sources of information. Whenever you hear an important fact for the first time, you must appropriately compensate the source, though the nature of that compensation may vary. You cannot bear to be in debt, and the only thing you value is information.
