Goals: 1. Try to build support for your Governor on the Myriadic Council. 2. Speak up on behalf of someone else. 3. Try to limit access to the temple to the Diplomats' control. You are Diplomat Maciunas, the "Voice of the Unpronounceable." The nickname is a little joke from your younger days (nearly eight thousand years ago now) when you spent the better part of a century insisting that the best music was produced by smashing various metal cords together at random, calling it "the Voice of that Which Cannot be Voiced." A clever-but-mean friend got hold of the name and, well, here you are. You're good at what you do, which is representing a Holding full of squabbling artists who've never agreed on anything, but you wouldn't identify yourself as a serious artist. You may well fight whoever tried. There is more to you, though, than the indulgent minder of spoiled theater kids. You've never really felt like you perfectly fit in with the other Castellans (you've tried over and over again to get a different metonym, but no one's biting on "Sandies"). You stick around though, because you think it's important to offer a dissenting voice. Ironically, it's that sense of alienation which drives you in your work. Sure, you're not some high-minded *artiste*, but plenty of Sandies aren't. So long as you retain your place in the heights of political power, those people have someone willing to speak to their issues. This is the teaching Sha gave which you hold most dear: the Heights are for Observation. You've come to the [[Council of Chains]] because Sha passed word that it contains some piece of transcendent art, or else some kind of ancient super-intelligence, or something. Details are sketchy. You know that bitter arguments and likely violence will erupt over the question of access to the temple, and you're hoping that arranging a committee of Diplomats, seasoned, reasonable people capable of working through their personal feelings, will curb the worst of that. If not, then at least whoever attacks you will be starting a fight with literally every other Holding. ## Asset: [[Plenipotentiary]] You often find yourself performing complex negotiations light years away from your Governor. As a result, you get a significantly greater degree of latitude than most Officers. You may enter a [[Negotiation]] without notifying your Governor or receiving their approval, though they will still be notified of any results. Your Governor can revoke this power by publicly stripping you of plenipotentiary status. ## Lien: [[Living on Room Service]] You've spent your life working on behalf of people you never see, people you're unlikely to ever meet in person. This separation has left its mark. You struggle to engage with those from your home [[Projects/Myriad/Holdings|Holding]]. If you go more than five minutes without interacting with someone outside your Holding, you become irritable and frustrated. After ten, you will make any excuse to get away, even if you know it will make your life harder in the long run.
